2024-06-14

During my visit to Istanbul, Turkey on May 26, 2024, I promptly registered at the conference venue in the afternoon. The conference, spanning from May 27 to May 31, was packed with diverse sessions and workshops catering to various aspects of facial recognition and related technologies. On Monday, May 27, mornings kicked off with the Doctoral Consortium (DC) in Room 1, along with workshops like Synthetic Data for Face and Gesture Analysis and Bias Assessment, organized by me (more details can be found (https://fg2024.ieee-biometrics.org/workshops/)), held in Rooms 2 and 3 respectively. On the same day I have presented my two research paper titles 1. Training Against Disguises: Addressing and Mitigating Bias in Facial Emotion Recognition with Synthetic Data  and 2. DiCTI: Diffusion-based Clothing Designer via Text-guided Input. Afternoons featured in-depth discussions on Advancements in Facial Expression Analysis and Synthesis (AFEAS). Tuesday, May 28 began with registration and an opening session chaired by Vito Struc, followed by a keynote on gaze analysis by Prof. Shiguang Shan. The day included interactive sessions like Ask Me Anything, Poster Spotlights, and an oral session on Human pose and motion. Wednesday, May 29, showcased a keynote by Prof. Beatrice de Gelder on body movement analysis, followed by ongoing oral sessions. Thursday, May 30, featured a keynote by Prof. Mohamed Daoudi on 3D face synthesis, accompanied by sessions focusing on Animation, Synthesis, and Self-Supervision. The conference concluded on Friday, May 31, with workshops covering topics from responsible face image processing to privacy-aware video-based technologies and figure skating video segmentation. Each day provided a valuable mix of academic exchange, expert insights, and collaborative learning, solidifying its significance in advancing the field of facial recognition technologies.
