In this talk, we will analyse the similarities and differences between two vastly different approaches to control system design: model-based classical control design and model-free machine learning. Opportunities and challenges for using machine learning in control design will be commented. Reinforcement learning based control design approach will be briefly discussed.
报告人简介:
Minyue Fu received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, in 1982, and Master and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA in 1983 and 1987, respectively. From 1987 to 1989, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Wayne State University, USA. He joined the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 1989 and became a Chair Professor in Electrical Engineering in 2003. His main research interests include control systems, signal processing and communications. He has been an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, Automatica and Journal of Optimization and Engineering. He is a Fellow of IEEE.
